Band Biography for damien o'kane:

Damien’s musical career has earned him credit as a creative and exciting musician and singer. His banjo playing has given him a reputation as one of the finest Irish players on the scene today, he is also a noted singer focusing on songs from his native Northern Ireland.

Currently touring with Kate Rusby he his probably better known for his work with Shona Kipling and Flook. He is fast becoming recognised as one of the finest singers on the British acoustic music scene.

Damien’s first solo album “Summer Hill” was released on 5th April 2010, working with musicians such as Kate Rusby, Ian Carr, Dave Kosky, John Joe Kelly and Michael McGoldrick. The album contains songs from Northern Ireland and further a-field as well as self composed instrumentals delivered with unique O’Kane flare and panache.

His work with Shona Kipling, accordion player extraordinaire, earned them both a Folk Award nomination in 2007 and their gigs expanded all over the world from Spain to Canada. Having spent a year with Anglo-Irish supergroup Flook, his banjo playing took him to many more different venues. Now with a solo career ahead and his work with Kate Rusby, he is sure to continue his success and further his reputation as a superb singer and instrumentalist.
