Formed in Stirling, Scotland, four piece Jack Butler introduced the UK to their unique blend of styles with the release of debut e.p 'How's this for Leverage?' in 2005, which quickly won them rave reviews from the likes of The Daily Record and Rock Sound magazine whose editor hailed them ,'‘The missing link between Minus The Bear and Arctic Monkeys’'.

The band's hard work and dedication led to them to winning BBC Radio 1's Demo Derby in April 2006. As finalists in the annual T Break competition, Jack Butler were awarded an appearance at Scotland's biggest music festival T in the Park in July '06, all this providing a fine build up to their debut single 'Velvet Prose' following their signing to Edinburgh's Whimsical Records. The 3 track cd/download, released in September, not only received glowing comments from webzines including Drowned in Sound, who proclaimed that, 'any one of these three songs could have been a single in its own right. For a debut release, it doesn't get much better than that', but was also play-listed by XFM London, resulting in a top 30 indie chart placing.

In Spring 2007 the band headed back into the studio to record the follow up AA sided single 'Boy VS Beast' /'Surgery 1984', released in August '07. It featured on the prestigious website Record Of The Day and was given a 5 star review by several critics including allgigs.co.uk’s Matt Clutton who declared it to be 'a beautifully harmonious riot'.

As Jack Butler's reputation as live performers continued to grow, they secured support slots with the likes of Glasvegas, The Wombats, Florence and the Machine and Hot Club de Paris whilst expanding their fan-base via festival slots at Go North, Connect and Belladrum. Meanwhile, their label and publishing deal with Whimsical continued, yielding enough material for a debut album, recorded at Glasgow's La Chunky studios, and mixed/mastered by Mark Freegard (Manic Street Preachers, Pete Townsend, The Breeders). The 13 track set - 'Fit the Paradigm '- was released on May 11th 2009, preceded by the singles 'Are you a Hustler? '(Dec '08) and 'Hit It Out The Park, Son' (April 13th '09).

During their 4 years together, Jack Butler have demonstrated a dynamism, and a refreshing quality that has been lost amongst the plethora of new music over recent times. These inspirational sounds are ground breaking in nature, feeling almost experimental in form and ticking all the boxes with everything from synthesised siren quality rhythm guitars to charged Talking Heads-like vocals. Their innovative formula along with the release of their debut album, will surely make them the 'ones to watch' in 2009!
