Luxury Stranger is an English band, based in Nottingham, UK

Influenced by the sounds of post-punk / new wave from 1978 - 1984. Imagine: Bowie and Pop's Berlin years mixed with the disparate sound of Joy Division and early Cure with the melodies and power of The Chameleons - this is Luxury Stranger.

With influences drawn from the darkness of post-punk, the theatre of 70s glam (Bowie/Eno/Reed/Pop) and the commerciality of 80s new wave, Luxury Stranger are a 'Jekyl and Hyde' style of band - a methodical architect in the studio and a passionate powerful monster on the stage.

Luxury Stranger played it's first gig on Friday, 5th September 2008 at Junktion 7, Nottingham (see blog for details). In December 2008, Luxury Stranger signed with Major Digital (an off-shoot of Germany's Major Records). In April 2010, Luxury Stranger successfully gained a listing on Wikipedia... something the band is very proud of.

Luxury Stranger is currently playing live as often as possible to promote the Desolation album and help expand the band's growing fanbase. In December 2009, Luxury Stranger made its first trip to play in Germany. The band played with German Post-Punk legends Die Art. In March 2010, Luxury Stranger returned to Germany and made its first trip to the Netherlamnds to support Levinhurst (featuring Lol Tolhurst and Michael Dempsey - both founder members of the Cure). In April 2010 Luxury Stranger plays at the Whitby Goth festival fringe event 'The Other Side' with Nosferatu. In May 2010, Luxury Stranger plays in Hagen, Germany and then at the Wave Gotik Treffen festival in Leipzig Germany.

The band is in the middle of recording the second album, titled 'Commitment and Discipline'. The band is also experimenting with material which could make the list for the third LS album...some of these pieces are already in the LS live set.
