The Leeds Academy venue is the site of the legendary Town & Country Club, which operated between 1992 and 2000, playing host to many high profile acts including Blur, INXS, Mark Knopfler and The Stones Roses.

In more recent years (2001-2004), the site traded as First Leisure's Creation nightclub.

The Academy Leeds venue opens in Autumn 2008.
