Coopers was created from a former Co-operative society building which was purpose built in Guiseley in 1924.

Since the building was closed as a Co-op, in around 1970, it has been used for various purposes including a clothing warehouse. Market Town Taverns renovated the building and opened Coopers in January 2005. The restored upstairs function room, complete with stage, operates both as a restaurant and a function/concert room.

The intimate venue, with a capacity of 200, is regularly used as a music venue, hosting a weekly jazz club and regular blues artists as well as special one-off music events.
