Weekly Newsletter - w/c Monday 2 February
Here we are again, Leeds! The city's live music scene is buzzing as always, and this week is no exception. Whether you're looking for a laid-back start to the week or a full-on weekend of tunes, there's something for everyone.
This Week's Picks
Kicking things off on Monday, if you fancy a bit of a creative stir, the Leeds Lit Fest Open Mic Fundraiser at Hyde Park Book Club is a great way to support a good cause and perhaps discover some new talent. Over at Northern Guitars, their Open Mic night promises a friendly atmosphere to get involved.
Mid-week offers a bit of a diverse spread. On Wednesday, you can catch the introspective sounds of CJ Pandit at Hyde Park Book Club, or if you're after something a bit more expansive, the critically acclaimed Midlake are playing at the Brudenell. For a taste of electro-pop, head to O2 Academy Leeds for Fishies.
As we head into Thursday, the Brudenell Social Club is hosting the electrifying HO99O9 for a dose of genre-bending intensity. Meanwhile, Oporto has POLAT playing their EP launch, with support from Thousand Degree Knife and Household Name – sounds like a great night for fans of psych-rock.
Friday night is looking particularly lively. The First Direct Arena has the chart-topping Jason Derulo if you're in the mood for some big pop hits. For those seeking something a bit more classic, The Wardrobe hosts a tribute to R.E.M. with Stipe, and Leeds Minster is offering a unique experience with The Music of Bruce Springsteen - The Candlelight Concert.
The weekend rounds off with plenty of options. Saturday sees the Brudenell Social Club hosting Big In for a dose of indie rock, and Hyde Park Book Club has a free, pay-as-you-feel show from Yossari Baby, which sounds like a real treat. On Sunday, if you're after some soulful vibes, The Domino Club has The Jazz Jam and a special Mojah Bob Marley birthday special.
Just Announced
Looking ahead, there are some cracking gigs to get in your diaries. Get ready for the return of the legendary MC Devvo at The Wardrobe on Saturday 14th November 2026. If you're a fan of classic punk and spoken word, this is one not to miss.
For a different kind of energy, Wharf Chambers is hosting AMPLIFY on Wednesday 4th March 2026, a student-led showcase of queer and female-led bands – expect indie rock, shoegaze, and riot grrrl vibes.
And mark your calendars for Saturday 4th July 2026, when the fantastic Tom Odell will be playing Millennium Square as part of the Sounds of the City series.
This week is packed with so much talent, from local heroes to touring acts. Remember to support your favourite venues and artists by grabbing tickets and getting out there to experience live music. See you next week!
