Weekly Newsletter - w/c Monday 23 February

Another week, another fantastic lineup of live music ready to hit Leeds. Whether you're after a chilled midweek vibe or a full-throttle weekend, there's something to get your ears around.

This Week's Highlights

Kicking things off mid-week, Leeds' own Voka Gentle are playing at Oporto on Wednesday, promising a night of their distinctive sound. And for those who appreciate a more established indie pedigree, The Wave Pictures are at the Brudenell Social Club on the same night, bringing their prolific and much-loved output to the stage. If you fancy something a bit more upbeat, the O2 Academy Leeds has Franz Ferdinand gracing their stage on Wednesday too – a chance to catch a band with a solid back catalogue of anthems.

As we move into Thursday, things are getting a little jazzier. The Domino Club is hosting The Big Easy and Frankly Jazz, offering a perfect blend of soulful tunes to ease you into the evening. Over at the Brudenell, Callous Daoboys are set to bring their distinctive energy, while those looking for something a bit more folk-tinged can catch Of Monsters and Men at the O2 Academy Leeds.

Friday night is shaping up to be a lively one. The Brudenell Social Club is buzzing with The Enemy and A Fistful Of Ska, promising a night of energetic anthems and infectious rhythms. For something a bit more raw and powerful, Decrepit Youths are at Northern Guitars, bringing their uncompromising sound. And if you're in the mood for some pure pop joy, Swiftogeddon - The Taylor Themed Club Night is taking over Belgrave Music Hall.

The weekend continues the good times. Saturday sees a real mix. Head down to the Brudenell for King Prawn or catch Psychedelic Porn Crumpets at Leeds University for a dose of psych-rock brilliance. For a more soulful Saturday, The Domino Club has Cleve & The Domino Funk & Soul Band. Sunday winds down with Sleuth Gang at Oporto, bringing their unique punk-rap energy, and Junk Drawer at Headrow House, offering a blend of influences from West Coast chill to experimental quirks.
