Even As We Speak
Are a band from Sydney Australia formed in the mid 1980’s and resisting neat labels, the band’s music is a quirky hybrid of accessible pop, ironic interjections, and experimental moments. After a series of releases on Australian independent labels they came to the attention of BBC Radio 1 DJ John Peel. This brought them to the attention of UK audiences and began a relationship with UK label Sarah Records with the subsequent releases shooting them to prominence in the UK Independent music scene, achieving multiple top 10 positions in the NME and Melody Maker charts. Following documentary and book projects in the 2000’s there was renewed interest in the band, leading them to reform for a sold out show at NYC PopFest in 2016, Their Peel Sessions were released in 2017 and they recorded a new EP ‘The Black Forest’ for Emotional Response in the USA. In 2018. Emotional Response and Rough Trade have partnered on a 25 year limited edition reissue of their 1993 album Feral Pop Frenzy, a UK tour and a whole lot more music in the pipeline!

One Eyed Wayne
Are a North London 4 piece, formed in 2014. Their debut EP ‘1234’,was released the same year, and immediately picked up by Tom Robinson and played on his ‘introducing’ show, which led to headline dates and festival appearances. One Eyed Wayne share some ground with Art Brut and The Libertines, they also look for inspiration further back with the incomparable Ian Dury.
“One Eyed Wayne see clearly what is wrong and don’t have a problem letting us know about it”
Louder Than War
“If One Eyed Wayne’s debut album Attack of the Luxury Flats depicted the wealth chasm of broken Britain with sharp and wry humour, their blistering follow-up, Saucy Postcards Super Creeps, hones their unique viewpoint to make maximum, skewering impact. Echoes of The Clash, The Only Ones and The Libertines abound, in songs written and performed by men who’ve lived, hard and well, and returned to tell their peculiar and riveting tales in songs whose titles alone – “The Body’s Gone”, “Waste Of The Day”, Old Man’s Balloons” – tell their own, colourful stories. Brilliant stuff.”
In 2016 the band released their debut album “Attack Of The Luxury Flats”, the album is a downbeat, drizzle flecked post-Sleaford Mods portrait of the UK in 2016 graphically brought to life. ‘As society continues to teeter on the brink of total decay. They grasp the nettle of “contemporary issues” by providing a cutting and breathless commentary on the minutiae of 21st Century life.
On Attack Of The Luxury Flats they take us on a whistle-stop tour of Broken Britain littered with aspirational ad breaks that are designed to make you feel inadequate without the fastest car/broadband/loan, nightmare night-life scenarios and local amenities so run down they eventually are demolished and replaced with high-money yielding flats. The title track addresses the later issue adeptly.
“One Eyed Wayne have captured a moment and with Steve Donoghue’s quite brilliant take on modern Britain albeit in a sharp and at times terse delivery they have made an excellent debut here”
“By far and away the best thing I’ve heard this year”
“There’s more than enough in Attack of the Luxury Flats – funny, biting lyrics and pulsating mod-indie pop songs for us to ignore”

One Eyed Wayne released their second album “Saucy Postcards Super Creeps’” in April 2019.
Saucy Postcards Super Creeps is an excellent follow up to One Eyed Wayne’s first album and shows the band honing their skills. The songs are that bit sharper, the instrumental palette broader and the playing and production more sure-footed. This LP shows them fulfilling the potential that was promised on Attack Of The Luxury Flats. One Eyed Wayne are among the best at documenting modern life in the UK, on both a personal and national level. They do it in a very entertaining fashion too, with the necessary life experience to take a broader view. They’ve got something special worth sharing with you.
