Svavar Knútur in Leeds
Thursday 27th February 2020
In perfect harmony with his vocation as a lifelong nonconformist, ever dismantling myths and post-colonial gentle-savage stereotypes about his “elfish and magical” people and country, Svavar Knútur has in recent years blossomed into a serene and sublime singer and songwriter.
Hailing from the melancholic eastern fjords and the seldom seen north of Iceland, Knútur's songs of misery and redemption deliver a healthy dose of hope in the midst of despair. A humoristic storyteller and avid diver into the murky waters of the human condition, Svavar Knútur, sows and reaps a fantastic mixture of art and entertainment.
Knútur’s songwriting has not gone unnoticed internationally - Svavar has in the recent years toured Australia, the U.S.A., Canada, Great Britain and Europe extensively and is resolved to keep up the pace!
“A night with Svavar will bring you to hell and back, and you’ll be smiling and laughing all the way.” - Pete Uhlenbruch, Australian musician and music blogger.
Svavar describes his music as Indie Nordic Folk Pop which is most definitely a first for us. This amazing event will be held in the Assembly cafe/bar.
We will be collecting donations on the door, £5 suggested.
